Ca. 1st-2nd Century AD
A substantial solid gold ring with a circular hoop and expanding shoulders; a large carnelian rests within the raised bezel. The stone is finely engraved with the depiction of a partially nude youth, seen leaning onto a pillar as he lifts his robes with his left hand. The soft cap on his head places the image close to the iconographic scheme of the god Attis.

Provenance: London private collection; formerly ex. Parthenon gallery, acquired in the 1990s.
